750?
750?
What could 750 be the answer to?
Could it be 750 matches struck every second to light 750 cigarettes? Could it be 750 lunch meetings cancelled at the last minute or 750 blind dates that didn’t work every day?
No, none of above 750 is the number of used plastic bottles that are dropped carelessly and thoughtlessly every minute in the United Kingdom. I say that again 750 plastic bottles dropped as little every single minute of every day.
That figure is truly astounding if not terrifying. This sea of plastic is polluting out environment as only a small percentage of this plastic waste finds its way into the recycling chain.
There are a number of campaigns that UKVending fully support including those run by Keep Britain Tidy and the Daily Mail’s Great Plastic Pick up campaign which is being run between May 11-13th.
Volunteers will, from the top to the bottom of the United Kingdom, be collecting and sorting plastic waste from parks, wastelands, streets and beaches to remove it and restore the beauty and health of our environment. The campaign points out that here in the United Kingdom we spend £800 million of public money cleaning litter. What could £800 million do for the lengthening NHS waiting lists?
