A daily coffee or tea is good news for diabetes sufferers
New research seems to indicate that drinking more tea and coffee could help millions of people worldwide who suffer with diabetes and could even allow them to live longer and more fulfilling lives.
The results of the study show that simply by switching from a sugary drink for the anti-inflammatory beverages lifespans could be extended. This is good news all round because in Britain 3.9 million people suffer with Type 2 diabetes which if untreated could lead to heart disease, stokes and ultimately death.
The American study conducted over an 18-month period monitored the drinking habits of more than 15,000 US diabetes sufferers and found that of those who drank more than one fizzy drink a day more than a fifth were likely to pass away early. However, those who drank up to six coffees a day had a 26 per cent reduced risk of early death and for tea drinkers the figure was a 21 per cent reduced risk.
