Another reason to switch to reusable cups
Here at UKVending we are always looking to find and deliver new innovative solutions to the worldwide problem of plastic pollution, especially when it comes to disposable plastic and plastic lined cups. As if we needed any more encouragement to double down on our efforts we came across a report in the scary sounding Journal of Hazardous Materials.
Their report discovered that usual plastic lined paper cups of the type you find in most coffee shops around the world can leach microplastics into the liquid they hold.
The researchers found that “25,000 micron-sized microplastic particles are released into 100 mL of hot liquid (85 to 90ºC) residing in the paper cups for 15 minutes. Thus, an average person drinking three regular cups of tea or coffee daily, in a paper cup, would be ingesting 75,000 tiny microplastic particles.
The solution of course is to use reusable cups, both for your health, the health and well being of the planet and not least to your bank balance. Check out our range of reusable cups at www.ukvending.com
