Coffee: Keep on running

You’ve drunk your coffee and now you want a walk, what are you going to wear on your feet? Obviously, you’re going to wear sneakers made from coffee…well aren’t you?

The science behind turning coffee waste into other useful products is something we’ve covered a great deal here at UKVending, but these new coffee shoes are the first to be properly described as performance footwear for athletic use. The Nomad range from Rens provide waterproof protection for the wearer and are made from a composite of coffee and recycled plastic bottles.

The Helsinki based company have a history of developing sustainable footwear from coffee and recycling old plastic with their first designs appearing over 2 years ago. The Nomad offers everything you’d expect from any shoe you might buy on the high street or indeed online, everything from a range of colours, UV protection, odour protection and even 100 per cent vegan waterproofing. Each shoe contains 21 cups’ of recycled coffee grounds and six recycled plastic bottles.
