COFFEE: THE NEW WEIGHT LOSS WEAPON?

At UKVending we’ve always thought that coffee is the new red wine. The ultimate drink of choice for the vast majority of people, after all coffee has 1,200 flavour compounds against red wines paltry 700!

Then of course it’s also being touted as a weapon in the war against excess weight. How I hear you cry out?

Well caffeine in most coffees will increase your body’s metabolic rate, essentially making your body burn more calories even when you’re idle such as at a desk at work or watching telly at home. Depending on how much caffeine is in your cup, drinking one to three cups a day may increase your metabolism so much that you could burn between 75-100 extra calories a day. That is, of course, if you don’t put any sugar in your cup to sweeten it first!

But there is more, scientific studies have concluded that if you replace a fat laden snack with a coffee, you’re creating a calorie deficit. So swap your 400+ calorie doughnut for a black coffee and you will be 500 calories ahead for the day.
