Ethiopia and Project Waterfall
Ethiopia is Africa’s top producer of coffee and the home of ‘Arabica’ coffee, with 15 million people relying on coffee production for their livelihood. Despite this, Ethiopia is still one of the poorest countries in the world where 58% of the rural population lack access to water and diseases caused by dirty water are the leading cause of death for children under 5 years old.
Project Waterfall began working in Ethiopia in 2014, and since then has invested in 4 projects and reached 2,737 people with a sustainable source of clean water and sanitation. We will be continuing our work in Ethiopia next year by funding projects in the Toke Kutaye and Chelia districts of the Oromia region in partnership with WaterAid.
