From Russia with love – a pack of tea bags with a secret inside

It reads like something from a Cold War novel or film; but this is real life.

The Russians have developed a new strategic supersonic jet bomber called the TU-160 Blackjack and somehow British spies managed to stash top secret plans aboard one which was flying to Venezuela. Where did they stash these vitally important intelligence items…well inside a pack of tea bags.

Russian officials clearly were on the case and searched everywhere, except at the bottom of a packet of loose tea which the pilots of the aircraft were known to enjoy during their 13 hour flight from Russia to the Central American countries capital Caracas. Once the aircraft had landed the secrets were retrieved when the packet of tea was recovered from the trash.

An intelligence source said: “An hour after landing, a quantity of rubbish, which included the tea packet, was taken from the aircraft while it was being refuelled.
