Grounds for divorce

In this hectic world in which we all live it is sometimes reassuring to learn of traditions and customs that harp back to more, shall we say, basic times. Here at UKVending we have been looking back at how coffee has influenced our world and one of the best examples we have discovered comes from Turkey. Turkey is a huge importer and consumer of coffee and is regularly listed in the top ten in the world of cups drunk per person per year.

So perhaps it is not so surprising that traditions and customs have developed around this most urbane beverage. So what is the fact that we at UKVending love so much: – this one.

It once was a custom in Turkey for a husband to promise he would provide his wife with coffee. And if he did not, it was grounds for divorce!
