Here’s Scientific Evidence Chocolate Can Boost Your Brain Power
Who wouldn’t want to boost their brain power and if it involved chocolate, I bet the number just got bigger?
Well Italian researchers have discovered that a daily dose of cocoa can actually counteract a number of different cognitive decline conditions. However, this is not an excuse to overindulge and scoff loads of chocolate.
The Italians studied years’ worth of clinical trial results and concluded that small regular doses of chocolate taken for a period of between five days and three months helped reduce the effects of cognitive decline. They noticed enhancements in working memory performance as well as improved visual information processing after taking cocoa flavanols.
It was particularly noticeable in the elderly where long term ingestion of cocoa flavanols improved verbal fluency, mental processing and attention. It was also particularly beneficial to women with sleep disorders.
There are, of course, downsides of eating more chocolate, most obviously the caloric value of the product as well as the ingestion of compounds such as caffeine and theobromine and sugar.
