Keep your bowels healthy with a couple of cups of coffee every day.

Here at UK Vending we all start our days with a great tasting and refreshing cup of coffee from our vending machines, but we rarely give a thought that our favourite drink may actually be doing us good and keeping our bowels healthy. Well the latest medical research seems to highlight a potential health benefit of drinking a few cups of coffee every day? If the latest study conducted by the University of Southern California is proved correct that is exactly what could be proved true. The study led by Professor of Medicine Dr Stephen Gruber has found a link between drinking coffee on a regular basis and a cut in the chances of developing certain forms of bowel cancer.

The research suggests that drinking two cups of coffee per day could, potentially, cut the risk by a quarter and more than two and half cups could actually halve the chances of developing the life threatening condition. The study also found that both caffeinated and decaffeinated varieties had the same properties.

Bowel Cancer is one of the most prevalent strains of cancer in the United Kingdom with over 40,000 new cases being diagnosed annually. Dr Stephen Gruber added; “We found that drinking coffee is associated with lower risk of colorectal cancer, and the more coffee consumed, the lower the risk.”

Dr Gruber’s research was published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention saw 5,100 men and women take part all of whom had been recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and a further 4,000 who did not have the disease. Throughout the study the participants reported how much coffee they drank daily as well as other liquids. Coffee contains a number of compounds and elements that can contribute to healthy bowels including caffeine and polyphenol, Melanoidins.

Further research is currently being undertaken.
