National Biscuit Day
Today is National Biscuit Day, a day to celebrate everything about the humble biscuit. Here at UKVending we know that biscuits and vending machines go hand in hand perfectly so here are 4 things you probably didn’t know about biscuits.
1. The word biscuit comes from the French for twice cooked.
2. In September 2001, a biscuit taken from the Titanic before her ill-fated maiden voyage fetched £3,525 at auction in London. It was described in the catalogue as “in almost perfect condition with signs of moulding”.
3. According to research at Bristol University in 1998, the best way to dunk a biscuit is horizontally.
4. Samuel Johnson defined biscuits as a “kind of hard dry bread, made to be carried to sea.”
