NHS tells us to drink more tea this winter
This winter promises, if the Met Office is to be believed, to be one of the longest, coldest and hardest for many years. To combat this weather the NHS has issued a directive that we as a nation should drink more tea and other hot drinks.
The Stay Well This winter campaign has a number of ideas that will keep us safe and healthy as the cold bites and the evenings darken. The NHS scheme tells us that we should turn up the heating to 18C, wear a jumper and to drink lots of warm drinks.
The NHS has statistics on their side. With every 1C drop below 5C sees a 10 percent rise in the number of people, particularly the elderly, suffering from breathing problems.
With the ever increasing demands on the services provided by the NHS A&E departments anything that can reduce demand is to be welcomed and if making more hot beverages can help we at UKVending wholeheartedly support this.
165 millions cups of tea a day are drunk in Britain and most studies indicate that the more cups of tea you drink, the more obvious the health benefits.
