Plastic out of snack
A snack is to be the first in the world to get a fully recyclable wrapper strong enough for a high speed production line.
Nestle has invented the paper packaging to work on machines that wrap 300 bars every single minute. Previously, plastic has been the only material strong enough for the speedy machinery.
Nestle says the new Yes Bar wrappers are easily recycled and break down in water within six months – compared to 450 years for their plastic predecessors.
The new paper wrappers were developed in York and will appear on the new bars across Europe in July.
