TAYLORS of HARROGRATE QUEEN’S AWARD

Here at UKVending we love it when one of our suppliers has something extra special to celebrate. Taylors of Harrogate supply us with their excellent tea and coffee’s received a Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development. The award highlighted Taylor’s commitment towards the sourcing of tea and coffee and their positive impact on worldwide communities over the last five years.

The family owned company has created a global tea and coffee supply chain in over 20 countries encompassing more than a million farmers worldwide. Kenya is one of the countries that have benefitted most from Taylor’s initiatives, with the company collaborating with local companies and individuals to supply and install water harvesting and filtration systems and getting 27,000 people access to fresh, clean, safe water. They have also provided scholarships to high school students and partnered with the Kenyan Tea Development Agency and the International Small Group Tree Planting Program to help 4,000 farmers’ plant 1 million trees. The effort will support reforestation and offer additional income to the farmers, who will receive yearly payments for each tree planted.

This is the third time that Taylors has been honoured with the Queen’s Award; the first time was in 2001 and the second in 2007.
