The benefits of drinking green tea
Tea is one of nature’s best creations of that there can be no doubt. It is tasty, satisfying and naturally hydrating. Tea is also hugely beneficial for health and a recent medical study that passed over our desks here at UKVending seems to go one step further by stating that Green Tea in particular could actually help in the fight against memory loss as well as combating the traditionally very unhealthy high fat Western diet.
The Chinese study into green tea discovered that it contains a molecule called Epigallocatechin – 3-gallata, which appears to offer neuroprotective and anti inflammatory properties; these factors together offer hope for those suffering from memory loss or early stages of dementia. The same scientists also suspect that this molecule could even protect against insulin resistance – which is one of causes of type 2 diabetes.
The scientists used three groups of mice over 16 weeks to test the effects of consuming the molecule with each group given a differing level of the substance. The group with the most were found to have lower body fat levels and seemed to have better memories.
The results of the scientific study were published in the FASEB Journal
