The link between too much caffeine and migraines

Chinese researchers from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have made a possible connection with the debilitating migraine headaches that can leave sufferers in agony for hours and the consumption of large quantities of caffeine in their diets.

Migraine sufferers, according to the report, are 42 per cent more likely to experience painful headaches if they drink four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day than those who drink less than one cup. The study tracked almost 9,000 American adults for over five-years and discovered that the risks of migraines and other strong headaches increased when caffeine consumption topped 400mg a day – or roughly four cups of regular coffee or at least eight cups of black tea.
