UK Vending celebrate 50 years of service throughout April 2019
April 2019 is an important anniversary for UKVending as it marks our fiftieth year of serving our customers with outstanding vending machines and service. The machines and their contents may have changed considerably over the years and technology has been incorporated into everyday machines that in 1969 would have looked like it was straight from a science fiction movie, so we thought we’d look back throughout April to the events that coloured the news fifty years ago today.
30th April 1969
Turi Widerøe of Norway became the world’s first woman pilot to be hired for a major western airline (women had been pilots for the Soviet carrier Aeroflot and for Bulgaria’s Balkan airline Certified as a copilot on a Scandinavian Airlines Convair 440. Widerøe took the controls of the for the first time on May 8
Topping the charts in the United Kingdom was the penultimate Number One from the Beatles. Get Back was famous for being performed live on the roof of the HMV Building in London.
