UK Vending celebrates 50 years of service throughout April 2019
April 2019 is an important anniversary for UKVending as it marks our fiftieth year of serving our customers with outstanding vending machines and service. The machines and their contents may have changed considerably over the years and technology has been incorporated into everyday machines that in 1969 would have looked like it was straight from a science fiction movie, so we thought we’d look back throughout April to the events that coloured the news fifty years ago today.
9th April 1969
April 1969 saw the launch of the famed Raleigh Chopper bicycle whilst in the United States Harvard University’s Administration Building was seized by 300 students. Shortly after midnight, Massachusetts State Police charged the students with billy clubs and pepper spray and arrested 184 of the protestors and injured another 45. One of the arrested was future Fox News journalist Chris Wallace who ‘”used his one phone call to contact the campus radio station”, which recorded a first-hand account filed from behind bars’
Here in the UK in Wolverhampton Sikh bus drivers won the right to wear their turbans whilst on duty.
