UK Vending celebrates 50 years of service throughout April 2019
April 2019 is an important anniversary for UKVending as it marks our fiftieth year of serving our customers with outstanding vending machines and service. The machines and their contents may have changed considerably over the years and technology has been incorporated into everyday machines that in 1969 would have looked like it was straight from a science fiction movie, so we thought we’d look back throughout April to the events that coloured the news fifty years ago today.

Princeton University in the United States announced that for the first time in its 223 year history it would admit 130 women to its undergraduate program.
April 1969 also saw the start of the Northern Ireland troubles when British troops already stationed in Ulster were called upon to reinforce the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
President Richard Nixon announced the planned withdrawal of 150,000 American troops from South Vietnam in a policy called ‘Vietnamization’ where control would pass to the Army of the Viet Nam. Nixon, however, at the same time expanded the policy of bombing North Vietnam and expanded the war into neighbouring Cambodia.
