What’s the wrong time to drink coffee?
Here at UKVending we believe that drinking coffee is great at anytime of day, but there is medical proof that one particular time of day is not ideal. That time is first thing in the morning, or more precisely about twenty minutes after you’ve woken up from sleep.
Early in the morning cortisol, the stress hormone rises in our bodies. It is there to perk you up and prepare you for the day ahead. Around 30 minutes after you wake it is at its peak and then it will steadily fall off throughout the day. So medical advice is to avoid caffeine at this time as it just replaces the natural boost you’d get with a caffeine based one.
It takes around 20 minutes for the caffeine to find its way to your brain – so medical advice states that you should really wait around 40 minutes for your first coffee of the day, you should start to feel the effects around an hour after waking, just as the cortisol is beginning to wear off.
