When do you reach for that quick snack?

Twelve minutes to four in the afternoon. That is the surprisingly precise answer to the question of when most British workers reach for a snack to perk themselves up at work. The second most common time is mid-afternoon.

The finding comes from a survey of 2000 people, which also found that Britons were divided over the best type of snack to have.

For 43 per cent, a savoury treat was the go-to snack; 42 per cent however sought out a sweet option.

The study, carried out by pork jerky snack maker Peperami, also found that four in ten respondents always ate the same snack.
